Claims from France on Wednesday evening state Chelsea are prepared to go ahead and pay Crystal Palace the full €70m for Michael Olise, and in the process beat Manchester United to the player.
Olise has been linked with multiple clubs given his success for the Eagles, and Foot Mercato say he’s ‘on his way out’ of Crystal Palace, with them believing Chelsea are on the brink of winning the transfer race.
Manchester United are said to be set against paying the €70m clause, and would therefore look to get the player for cheaper, however, if Chelsea go ahead and get a deal done then that chance will be done.
According to the report, Chelsea have already started negotiations with the player’s entourage and hope to find a personal agreement with Olise’s camp.
The 22-year-old shot to fame with Crystal Palace last season, scoring 10 goals and making six assists in just 19 matches.
If it’s true that Chelsea are ready to trigger the clause, then it’s surely unlikely Manchester United will move to compete with that.
