Aston Villa may have been presented with a new opportunity to sign Sevilla defender Marcos Acuña, with the Spanish side basically waiting for proposals to arrive.
That’s according to Sevilla director of football Victor Orta, with his latest comments on the matter relayed by Mucho Deporte.
Orta has been asked about the situation around the Argentine defender and striker Youssef En-Nesyri, with the Spanish side keen to move both on as they look to balance the books.
They’re waiting for proposals on that front, according to Orta, who believes the international football this summer may be blocking matters.
That appears to be something of a plea for clubs to come forward, and perhaps one specifically aimed at Aston Villa given their previous interest in the full-back.
They wanted Acuña last summer, but Sevilla blocked the move as they were still smarting over Monchi’s move to Aston Villa and blocked the whole deal because he was the one pushing for it.
They’ve been regretting that decision since as Acuña’s price has dropped significantly, with it even claimed they’ll drop their demands considerably this summer to get rid of him.
Orta’s latest comments certainly show an openness to any proposal coming their way, it just remains to be seen if Aston Villa want to make one.
