Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya has hinted his future at the club is not certain just yet, even if he would like to remain at the Emirates.
The Spaniard has been speaking to OK Diario in Spain about his career to date and specifically his season at Arsenal.
He joined the Gunners on loan from Brentford last summer after several years impressing with the Bees, where he had established himself as number one during their rise to the Premier League.
Raya quickly did the same at Arsenal, ousting Aaron Ramsdale from the position and proving to be a key player in the title challenge thanks to his ability to play out from the back.
That loan deals expires at the end of this month and includes an obligation for Arsenal to make it permanent under certain conditions for €35m.
Raya, though, has hinted that may not be the case just yet, telling Diario it’s a case of wait and see what happens to him at Arsenal, even if he personally would like to stay.
“I would like to play in Spain one day,” he said.
“As I have never played in the Spanish league, then, returning would not be returning. Coming home, at some point, yes. I don’t close any doors.
“Right now, I am very happy in the Premier. Let’s see what happens this year, if I stay at Arsenal or not. You have to wait and see.
“It has been a good campaign with Arsenal, and it is a shame that we have not been able to win the title.
“(Manchester) City have made it very difficult for us. I am very happy with the campaign, and I hope to be able to continue there next year.”
