With Euro 2024 well underway and the Copa America set to start soon, there’s a lot of distraction from what’s going on in the transfer market at this point.
That doesn’t mean things have gone quiet, with transfers starting to becoming more serious. For months there’s been rumours around the future of Luis Diaz, and a lot of that has been fed by the Catalan and Colombian media.
The media closest to Barcelona have been covering Blaugrana interest, with sports director Deco believed to be leading that. Over in Colombia they’ve been getting carried with the prospect of the move, but have also been taking some reports from England too seriously.
Liverpool fans will know there’s a string of former Reds players available to rent a quote from, and endless articles produced a week based on that. This has all been taken too literally, and as if it were coming from close to the club, by the Colombian media.
Catalan newspaper Sport have spoken to Colombian journalist Breinner Arteta Cañizares, who had earlier made claims regarding information from Diaz’s entourage.
Sport say they’ve been able to confirm that a meeting is set to take place this week in the United States between Diaz’s camp and representatives from Barcelona.
That’s aimed at bringing their positions closer, so likely related to personal terms.
However, none of it really matters until Barca have the money Liverpool want, and that will likely involve selling Raphinha or similar in the coming weeks.
