AS Roma fans are beginning to doubt that their club will be the main focus of owner Dan Friedkin’s attentions if he manages to complete a takeover at Everton.
That’s according to Planeta Roma, who say Friedkin’s insistence that Everton won’t be the primary club in his network is being questioned in Rome.
They explain that Roma fans have been left wondering about the future of their club as Friedkin and his company get closer to buying Everton.
The American businessman is the current frontrunner to buy the Toffees from Farhad Moshiri, with reports over the weekend making it clear that he has made the Friedkin bid his preferred choice and an exclusivity period could be signed imminently.
They’re questioning why Friedkin would buy Everton, who have more league titles than Roma, play in the biggest and most profitable league in the world and have a brand-new stadium in the final stages of being built then make them the secondary club in their group.
That makes no sense, particularly as Everton could potentially provide a ‘big jump’ in their profits, far surpassing what Roma can offer them.
There is also the question of what happens if the two sides ever qualify for the same European tournament, which would leave the Friedkins with a decision to make. Although given Everton haven’t qualified for Europe in a while, that’s not at the forefront of thinking for now.
