Weston McKennie salary demands revealed – Wants ‘top player’ Aston Villa wage

On Monday evening, we covered a report from Italy which explained the Douglas Luiz mega-deal had hit a hurdle.

Juventus were set to take the Brazilian and send Weston McKennie and Samuel Iling-Junior to Aston Villa, along with a settlement of around €20m.

However, McKennie’s personal terms haven’t been agreed yet, with no common-ground found between Aston Villa and the US international’s agents.

Not only is it related to salary, but also commission payments on the deal.

Now there’s more details shared by Turin newspaper Tuttosport. They say McKennie wants to be paid as a ‘top player’ if he’s to sign for Aston Villa.

He wants to get something out of the transfer and would therefore be requesting a pay rise on what he currently earns with Juventus.

Tuttosport put that at €2.5m a year, which will be after tax. So Aston Villa are going to be looking at double that, and likely quite a bit more.

Then there’s the commission, although nothing is shared in that regard yet.

There’s still some confidence this deal will go through and that things can be sorted out in the next few days.

It’s clear that McKennie is looking to make the most he can financially, especially after claims last week that he’s also hoping for a pay-off from Juve.
