AS Roma are hoping Everton revive their interest in Tammy Abraham this summer and make a move for him, so they can spend the money on signings.
That’s according to Corriere dello Sport, who say Everton remain one of five teams interested in the striker.
The newspaper explains that Abraham is waiting for the transfer market to get going as he potentially seeks an exit from Roma.
The Italian side, meanwhile, are also keen to part ways and are hoping that one of the player’s former suitors in the Premier League will make a bid for him.
Abraham is no longer a part of their plans moving forwards and so they want to monetise a sale so they can strengthen their budget and invest in the squad this summer.
They have their eye on Samu Omorodion from Atletico Madrid, though, and he is valued at €35m, so it is easy to assume they want as big a fee as possible for Abraham to help offset that. Reports last year had his price tag at €40m but that is sure to have dropped considerably.
Everton are unlikely to move at this point as they are well stocked up from with Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Beto at their disposal.
The former is in the final year of his contract, though, and while a new deal has been offered, is yet to sign on the dotted line.
If he doesn’t sign then Everton would surely sell, with even a reduced fee ensuring a major profit on a player who cost them €1.8m in 2016.
That could open up a gap for Abraham to fill, although the Toffees’ tight finances would mean tough negotiations and Roma perhaps needing to shave a little more off their expectations.
