Reported on the verge of signing for Fiorentina, Torino and Bologna, it appears Emmanuele Giaccherini will in fact be leaving Sunderland for the bay of Naples.
Napoli’s interest emerged relatively recently, with a meeting allegedly taking place on Wednesday, and it seems they said things Giaccherini wanted to hear as he’s going to sign and complete the transfer on Thursday.
Calciomercato claim to have all the information of the transfer and report Sunderland agreed to sell the 31-year-old for around €1.5m, which is far less than what was being touted previously (around €4m).
Whether that is good negotiating from Napoli or desperation to sell from Sunderland, we don’t know, but the attacking midfielder will reportedly sign a three-year contract worth £26k/week today.
The Italian website say the signing happened at 11am this morning, and the player will join up with Maurizio Sarri’s team on the 25th of July along with his national teammate Lorenzo Insigne.
