Tottenham defender Micky van de Ven has insisted he is delighted with his progress at the club and wants to win trophies with them moving forwards.

The Dutch centre-back has been speaking to Soccer News as he gears up for Euro 2024 with the Netherlands after a successful first season in England with Tottenham.

He joined them in a big money move from Wolfsburg in the summer and hasn’t looked back since, establishing himself as a key player under Ange Postecoglou and putting in a series of impressive performances to justify that.

The defender is being backed for an extremely bright future, with all indications that he could become one of the best in Europe if he continues his current trajectory.

He had been linked with a move to the Premier League for a while after impressing in Germany too, with Liverpool also long-term admirers of him.

Instead, he ended up at Tottenham and has enjoyed a rapid rise as a result, with him and Spurs certainly benefitting from the deal so far.

Van de Ven is certainly happy with his time at the club, and indeed how his career is going so far, but admits he wants trophies at Tottenham before long.

“Yes, that is very nice,” he said on being named Player of the Year by Spurs fans.

“It was a tough season with two injuries, but when I played it went well. I am very satisfied at Spurs and hope to achieve great things there.”
