With Brentford defender Mathias Zanka Jørgensen getting a surprise call up for the Euros, he’s now in the spotlight in the Danish media.
Outlet Tipsbladet today had some of his first words after being named in the squad, as he had to rush to Germany for the tournament preparations.
In that interview, Zanka revealed that he’d been in touch with Brentford boss Thomas Frank this week, and shared the news with him.
“I actually spoke to him earlier, but it was about something completely different. But yes, of course he also congratulated me and said that we will see each other at a slightly later time than we had just thought,” said Zanka.
Covering the quotes, Tipsbladet point out that the player wouldn’t reveal the main subject of his conversation with the Brentford boss.
With the Premier League season ending recently and players now enjoying their time off, we must say it’s quite interesting that the 34-year-old had been in touch with the Bees manager.
Playing for Brentford this season, Zanka only had 18 appearances, having his best sequence of games between February and April.
His contract with the Bees expires in the summer of 2025, and perhaps he’d been discussing his future at the club.
Maybe we’ll soon get to know that from himself.
