Chelsea’s talks with Sport Recife for the transfer of Pedro Lima are not concluded yet.
That’s claimed by João Marcelo Barros, a director at the Brazilian club, who was now interviewed by Globo Esporte.
The club chief confirmed that there are advanced talks for the fullback to move, but made it clear that there are still some details left to be agreed.
“The stage of the negotiation is not a guarantee that it will materialise. Although the negotiation is advanced, it may not materialise if certain barriers are not overcome. We may reach an agreement soon, but there are still issues to be solved that are not within our control.”
It’s also said that the Blues already have a salary agreement with Lima, and they just need to sort some clauses in the contract.
The fullback has a €12m release clause, but Chelsea’s initial offers were below than that, so the clubs are believed to be working on those numbers still.
Since Sport Recife have been playing in the second division, the youngster is unlikely to get a work permit for the Premier League soon, and that’s one of the reasons why he should get loaned out, with Strasbourg being pointed out as a likely destination.
