On Monday, we covered claims from the Italian media regarding Victor Kristiansen and Bologna.
The central defender, who Leicester City have on a contract until 2028, spent last season on loan with the Serie A side. They were happy with him, both his football and his attitude, and despite being just 21-years-of-age, and in a new league, he played 34 matches.
Bologna want to keep him but aren’t interested in paying the €15m they agreed with Leicester City. That clause expired in May anyway, but rather than the Italians trying to match it and asking the Foxes for an extension, they want the player cheaper.
Monday’s claims stated Bologna want to pay €11-12m, and on Tuesday it goes lower.
According to Corriere di Bologna, the Serie A side will move away from the deal unless Leicester City ‘go down to €10m’. Should the Premier League club refuse then they’ll move to Plan B, David Moller Wolfe.
At this point, Leicester City really need to put their foot down. Bologna have qualified for the Champions League with all the money that comes with it, and the clause amount was perfectly reasonable in the first place.
It would be better for the Foxes to sell him elsewhere or see if he can play a role for them next season.
