The Portuguese media today reawakens the rumours which link Pepê to Chelsea.
Newspaper Record features a story claiming that despite the change of managers at the Blues, the club continue to have the player as a target.
It’s said that Enzo Maresca barely arrived at Chelsea and already saw Pepê in their ‘database’, as the Brazilian is ‘firm in Chelsea’s sights’.
Even though the player was used in multiple positions last season, Record highlights his good offensive numbers, as he had eight goals and ten assists in 50 appearances for the Dragons.
Pepê is currently valued by Transfermarkt at €30m, but is protected by a €60m release clause, and that’s the amount that Porto are set to request when the offers arrive.
It’s also claimed that Chelsea are not alone in the race, with the newspaper saying that Newcastle United would like to bring the player to the Premier League as well.
Since Pepê is also in Brazil’s squad for the Copa America, there’s a chance he could do well in the tournament and be even more valued in the coming months.
