Gustaf Lagerbielke wanted to leave Celtic in the January window and was stopped from doing so. Lecce thought they’d agreed a deal to sign the defender, but it was blocked at the last minute.

Whilst it appeared that Celtic as a club would be open to the exit, manager Brendan Rodgers was worried he may be left short if Lagerbielke wasn’t in the squad for the rest of the season.

Lecce were left annoyed and the player himself wasn’t too thrilled with the situation. Now we’re on the verge of the summer window opening, Gustaf Lagerbielke is again looking towards the exit.

Sweden’s Fotbollskanalen report there’s multiple clubs in Italy keen to take the player away from Celtic, and they’ve even managed to have a chat with the man himself.

“I know that there are a number of teams that are interested, but not much more than that. There are interested teams in Italy and also other leagues,” Lagerbielke said.

Despite the January trouble, he remains happy to have moved to Celtic, and added: “Very instructive. I have developed a lot and become a better player. I have brought a lot with me. I’m looking forward to the future and I think I’ll take a lot from Celtic to the next team I join.”

That makes his thinking pretty clear, and when that was pointed out to him, he said: “It is difficult to say anything before something is ready. I have a contract with Celtic, but it’s no secret that I want to play.”

It would be a surprise if Lagerbielke doesn’t leave Celtic before the end of the summer.
