The Catalan media today shows a little bit of optimism regarding Barcelona’s chase for Newcastle United star Bruno Guimarães.
Newspaper Mundo Deportivo shares a story highlighting the fact that the Financial Fair Play is expected to force some Premier League clubs to sell big assets this summer.
This is the case of Newcastle and Guimarães, who’s a player whose sale could give the Magpies enough money to stay more relaxed about their situation.
Mundo Deportivo writes that the Brazilian has a £100m release clause for other English sides, but the St. James Park’s side would consider letting him go for less than €80m if selling to clubs from abroad.
For now Barcelona are still in no condition to go after a player of such calibre, as they also need to make some sales before thinking of making big spendings in the transfer market.
However, the news about FFP is said to be some ‘hope’ for the Camp Nou side to go after some of their big targets they have this summer. Everything will depend on how Newcastle will deal with their situation though.
