Two days ago, we covered claims from Italy that Aston Villa are hoping to sign Inter Milan’s Denzel Dumfries at a ‘reduced cost’. It was also said the Villans director, Monchi, has been ‘acting as a bridge’ with his entourage.
The right-back’s deal lasts until 2025, and InterLive.it say Aston Villa are willing to take the necessary steps to try to sign him in the summer window.
Unai Emery’s side seem to be keen on bolstering this position, and their focus is on the Inter fullback. It’s claimed Aston Villa are ‘ready to formalise an offer’, to convince Simone Inzaghi and the Nerazzurri.
Dumfries is valued by Inzaghi, and the manager wants to retain him at the San Siro. The 28-year-old provides balance, both while defending and attacking, and it may be difficult to find his replacement. Therefore, Inter are willing to keep him, even without a renewal.
The Serie A winners would only consider sanctioning the Netherlands international’s sale if there is a ‘substantial offer’.
There’s no mention of the fee needed to convince Inter or the money Aston Villa are ready to offer for the Dutchman.
