Real Betis president Ángel Haro has confirmed they are close to sealing another loan deal for Leeds United midfielder Marc Roca, and they’re also battling West Ham United for Vitão.
The Betis president has been speaking to the media today to clarify the situation at the club as they face a summer of rebuilding.
Roca spent last season on loan at the Spanish club after making use of a clause in his contract with Leeds to leave following their relegation to the Championship.
He was a key player for Manuel Pellegrini’s side last season, and they are keen to keep him, while the midfielder is equally keen to stay.
The question is on what terms he remains at the club, with it believed he could use the same clause to return on loan next season, but it was also suggested that Betis could explore a permanent deal too.
“Roca remains almost 100%, on loan or with another formula. If Carvalho and Guido leave, another midfielder will have to be signed,” he said.
Vitão, meanwhile, is a player that remains on the Spanish side’s list of options this summer despite West Ham’s bid for him.
The defender has found himself being targeted by several teams in Europe as his current deal is set to expire and he’ll be available on a free transfer.
West Ham made the first move for him yesterday, submitting a bid to try and steal a march on the competition as they look to strengthen Julen Lopetegui’s squad.
Betis have also been credited with an interest in Spain and Haro has confirmed he is a player who is on their list.
“He is on our shortlist, with seven or eight others, very interesting. Nothing is closed, (because he) is an expensive player,” he added.
