Arsenal star Martin Ödegaard has created something of a small controversy back in his native Norway after refusing to speak to the media.
Afton Bladet cover the situation today after the Arsenal star and international teammate Manchester City Erling Haaland snubbed the media after the 3-0 win over Kosovo.
The newspaper reports that while the focus should have been on the 3-0 win and Haaland’s hattrick in that game, it proved to be about something completely different.
That’s because after the game, the star duo Haaland and Ödegaard decided not to speak to the media about the result.
Haaland was the first to show that he wasn’t in the mood, the 23-year-old avoiding the press despite being the undisputed star of the game thanks to his hattrick.
Arsenal midfielder Ödegaard ‘did exactly the same’ not long afterwards and even did it ‘with a small smile on his face’, telling journalists “now I’m not going to talk to you. I have been with you so much.”
Why he decided to take that stance isn’t made clear but it has naturally caused a little controversy, with the media unimpressed at being snubbed by their national team captain.
