AC Milan’s chase for Tottenham Hotspur fullback Emerson Royal had a little boost, according to some surprising claims from the Italian media today.

Gazzetta Dello Sport writes that with the player focused on joining the Rossoneri this summer, the biggest issue right now is an economic agreement between the clubs.

What’s strange in their story is that the outlet first claims that Tottenham consider Emerson an ‘important player’, and have ‘no intention’ to sell him this summer.

However, just a line later, they claim that Spurs dropped their request for his exit. It’s reported that the London side had been demanding €30m and now want €20m.

Well, those claims sound a little contradictory, to say the least, and doesn’t seem like something Daniel Levy would do, especially at this stage of the market, when there’s still plenty of time to negotiate.

Milan believe they have the approval from Emerson himself, so they now work to agree an amount for a deal. There have been new contacts with the player’s representatives and the talks are moving forward.
