Will Still’s future still remains to be solved, with the manager yet to arrive at RC Lens, Sunderland still in the picture, and the man himself thought to be back-peddling in a similar way to the Black Cats.
That’s according to Allez Lens and journalist Mohamed Toubache-Ter, who cover the ongoing Still saga today and Sunderland’s continued role in it.
Allez Les explain that the ‘almost arrival’ of Still at the club may be causing a lot of talk at the club but the reality is that he is not particularly close to finalising his deal.
Indeed, this is something that Lens president Joseph Oughourlian has recently commented on, playing down the rumours and refusing to confirm the arrival.
That’s led to some confusion as the coach had clearly taken a ‘step back’ regarding the approaches from Sunderland, after being close to signing for them.
The suggestion is that there could have been yet another change of heart for Still, who may have decided that the low-cost squad and budgetary restrictions at Lens are too much of a challenge for him, despite repeated insistence he had dreamed of coaching the French side.
There seems to be some confusion, and the belief that Still may be having second thoughts about the move despite walking backwards from Sunderland to potentially take it up.
Toubache-Ter insists that the final details are being worked on and finalised, with the last details being discussed.
He, though, offers no timeline, with confusion reigning for the time being, as seems to often be the case with Still and his managerial future.
