Liverpool and Newcastle United have Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo on their agenda for the summer window, according to L’Equipe.
The striker was on the sidelines for three months with an ankle injury before returning to the pitch in March, and finished the season with nine goals and six assists from 25 games.
His performances for Brentford have caught Liverpool and Newcastle attention and they have been looking at the 24-year-old for some time.
His deal lasts until 2026 and he’s aware that he could ‘shake up’ the English market in the summer window. That’s because both Liverpool and Newcastle have ‘already expressed an interest’ in the Brentford player.
“I spent five seasons at Brentford, at a club that helped me grow and turn a corner. But yes, I want to play in the biggest competitions, for the best clubs. It’s still exciting to see some of the big teams interested in me. We’ll see,” he said.
The Cameroon international didn’t specify if the interest he received was from the Reds and the Magpies. L’Equipe state the Brentford frontman is ‘ready to join a club the size of Liverpool’, while focusing on further improving his own game.
“I have qualities that I’m not yet fully exploiting. When it comes to the final touch too, I need to be even more killer and decisive,” Mbeumo explained.
“I set up plans with a sports coach. I’m following a virtual reality program that allows me to improve my cognitive abilities. You have to be ready for the seasons to come.”
