On April 30th, Calciomercato.it stated Tottenham Hotspur could be an option for Santiago Giménez after he and his agent made a trip to London to watch Spurs against Arsenal.
A day later, TUDN in Mexico reported that everything indicates the Feyenoord star’s future is expected to be at either Tottenham or AC Milan.
Fast forward to end of May and TV Azteca reiterate Tottenham are one of the options for the striker.
The 23-year-old’s time at the Eredivisie is ‘coming to an end’ and he aims to move to a more competitive league in the summer window. The Mexico international could wait until the end of the Copa América to decide his future.
Giménez hasn’t decided his next club, but has ‘ended up opting’ for the Premier League, where Tottenham are interested in signing him. TV Azteca say his entourage expected him to pick Spain, but in the end he has decided to opt for England.
It’s unclear the fee Ange Postecoglou’s side could offer for a player currently valued at €45m by Transfermarkt. As well as the north London club, Liverpool and Southampton are also named as Giménez’s contenders.
Giménez has scored 26 goals and registered eight assists this season and it remains to be seen whether he will join Tottenham or another English club in the next window.
