Heidenheim’s demands for Jan-Niklas Beste are currently holding up Everton and other suitors making a move for him.
That’s according to journalist Florian Plettenberg, who provides an update on the player today after linking him to Everton and others this summer.
A report earlier today, from Plettenberg, indicated that Everton were one of several sides looking into a deal for the winger, who managed eight goals and 12 assists in 31 games in the Bundesliga this season.
Plettenberg now provides an update on the matter and explains Heidenheim are currently scaring off suitors as they decided weeks ago that they want more than €10m for their man.
That’s nothing new but they’ve been sounding out the market with that asking price in place and while discussions have taken place, nobody is biting.
That’s because Everton, and the other teams presumably, all feel that a more realistic price for the winger would be in the aforementioned €5-7m price range. Indeed, no club is willing to pay over €10m for him.
There’s now something of a poker game developing around the player, with Heidenheim wanting €10m but the interesting parties only willing to discuss for €5-7m.
The journalist argues that perhaps an agreement can be found between those two points, but there is every chance that Heidenheim will stand firm, block a departure and force Everton and the other suitors to look elsewhere.
