Ruud van Nistelrooy is an option being looked at by Leicester City as they plan for life after Enzo Maresca.
That’s according to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, who reports that the former PSV Eindhoven manager is on the list of potential targets for the Foxes.
Leicester are set to be on the hunt for a new manager in the near future with Maresca closing in on the Chelsea job after they made him their favourite to succeed Mauricio Pochettino.
Several names have already been linked with the job at Leicester, and now Van Nistelrooy can be added to the list.
Tavolieri reports the Dutchman’s name is one of those being considered by those in charge at the King Power to replace Maresca once he has departed.
Van Nistelrooy has been out of work since leaving PSV Eindhoven in May last year, a spell that lasted just a year but saw him manage a points per game ratio of 2.2 in his 50 games in charge.
That role was his first senior managerial role after a spell as PSV’s U18 and U21 manager and as assistant manager for the Netherlands between 2014 and 2016 and then from 2020 to 2021.
