Tottenham Hotspur are keeping Timo Werner at the club for longer, according to the latest reports from Germany.
Sky Deutschland journalist Florian Plettenberg claims there’s a ‘total agreement’ between Spurs and RB Leipzig.
Earlier today, the very same reporter had already reported that Tottenham were not keen on triggering the €17m buying option they had over the player.
Now it’s said that the clubs negotiated a deal for a new loan, with another purchase clause.
This time, the ‘total package’ including the loan fee and the option to buy is worth around €15m. It’s also made clear that Tottenham will pay for 100% of Werner’s salary.
Plettenberg had already explained that the player was keen on staying in London, with Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou also interested in keeping him in the squad.
Werner is believed to be one of the top earners at Leipzig, and that’s why they were working to see his salary off their bill.
The striker had two goals and three assists in 14 appearances in his short spell at Tottenham this year, and we’ll see if he’ll convince them to buy him next summer for what is now a vastly knockdown price.
