Sofyan Amrabat has insisted he would like to remain at Manchester United beyond the summer, but knows the decision will be out of his hands.
The midfielder has been speaking to Ziggo Sport, relayed by Bladna, in the Netherlands about his future plans as his time at Manchester United comes to an end.
The midfielder has spent the season on loan from Fiorentina and largely struggled to impress, featuring largely from the bench and in just 30% of the available minutes in the Premier League.
He’s certainly failed to hit the heights of his performances in the World Cup in Qatar, which pushed him on to the global stage and ultimately led to several clubs chasing him last summer before Manchester United secured him on loan.
He was, though, back to his best in Manchester United’s win over Manchester City in the FA Cup final, putting in a commanding performance in the centre of midfield that allowed the likes of Bruno Fernandes and Kobbie Mainoo to shine in front of him.
That display reminded everyone what he is capable of and has unsurprisingly led to some debate about whether Manchester United should use their option to buy him this summer.
Amrabat, for his part, has insisted he would be more than happy to remain at Old Trafford, but knows the decision is very much out of his hands.
“Do I already know what I’m going to do next year? No, we’re going to talk. Staying is certainly an option,” Bladna report him saying.
“Listen, I think it has been a very difficult season. For Manchester United it has to be much better, and also for me personally. We will talk.
“Manchester United is the biggest club in the world, so who wouldn’t want to play football here? But all parties have to be happy with each other, so we will now sit together and see what happens.”
