Vincent Kompany has been warned he faces walking into a Bayern Munich set up with forces working against him, if he moves from Burnley as planned.
Belgian journalist Peter Vandenbempt has been commenting on the Belgian manager today as he looks set to complete a shock move from Burnley to the German giants.
Kompany has emerged as the leading candidate for the job at the Allianz Arena over the last week, with Bayern turning to him after a succession of managers decided against the job.
The German giants are now locked in negotiations with Burnley over a move for the Belgian boss, with the Clarets refusing to do their German counterparts any favours and demanding a top fee for the coach.
The job will undoubtedly be the biggest of his career to date and Vandenbempt warns it won’t just be managing a squad full of elite talent that will prove to be tricky.
“The football he has in mind did not always work out at Anderlecht and Burnley, but at Bayern the quality is available to play according to that philosophy,” he said.
“Magazines such as Bild are very close to it. All club icons also constantly give their opinion. I don’t know if Kompany will appreciate that, he doesn’t have the reputation in Germany that he does in England.
“Bayern is a difficult club today, there are all kinds of forces at play, that’s what went wrong with Nagelsmann and Tuchel. But if Kompany survives this he has really been launched as a trainer.”
