Player likely to leave West Ham despite renewing contract – Hammers won’t sell him for cheap

West Ham United goalkeeper Nathan Trott has been on loan at Vejle Boldklub since 2022 and it’s not clear where his future lies.

The 25-year-old’s current deal with the Hammers expires in June and earlier this year, he revealed that West Ham have an option to extend it for two more years.

The Premier League side have activated the renewal option, according to Tipsbladet.

Trott has kept eight clean sheets and conceded 35 goals from 31 games for Vejle this season. His form has seen several clubs show interest, and those clubs had been hoping to sign him for free in the summer window.

A free transfer is now ruled out after West Ham extended his contract until 2026, but a move could still take place in the next window.

Alphonse Areola has been the first-choice goalkeeper at the London club this season, with Łukasz Fabiański providing cover to the Frenchman. Trott is unlikely to get game time if he were to return to West Ham.

Therefore, Tipsbladet state the goalkeeper is more likely to be sold this summer, despite the renewal. The report adds that West Ham don’t intend to sell him for cheap, without mentioning their demands.
