Super-agent Kia Joorabchian may have handed Arsenal their opportunity to get striker Joshua Zirkzee, by negotiating a release clause for him.
That’s according to Corriere dello Sport, who say the striker has an agreement in place with Bologna to leave for €40m.
The newspaper explains that the striker, who has been heavily linked with a move away from the club for months after shining in Italy this season, has a surprise release clause in his current deal.
It’s long been made clear that former club Bayern Munich have an option to sign him back for €40m but Corriere report his agent, Kia Joorabchian, negotiated it so that clause also applies to any other suitors willing to pay it.
Whether that tempts Arsenal into a deal for Zirkzee remains to be seen, but the opportunity is certainly there now it’s clear they don’t need to negotiate a price for him.
They’ve been linked with an interest in the Dutchman for months and a report at the beginning of this month had them ‘ready to pounce’ for him and give Mikel Arteta the striker he needs.
Arsenal do have something of a relationship with Joorabchian after working with him extensively in the past but whether they’d like to revive that here is up for debate. The opportunity to get Zirkzee is there, though, thanks to the clause he’s negotiated with Bologna.
