Last month, Akşam stated Celtic have invited Uğurcan Çakır’s agent to discuss a potential deal. It was also reported Brendan Rodgers has requested a video call with the Trabzonspor goalkeeper.

On Monday, Fotospor indicated Celtic seem to have given up on Çakır and Galatasaray are the only team interested now.

That isn’t the case as far as Günebakış have it, and they state Brendan Rodgers’ side are not only interested, but have taken necessary steps to try to bring him to Celtic Park in the summer window.

It’s claimed Celtic ‘came with a serious offer’ of €7.5m to sign the Turkey international. FC Nantes and AS Roma have the player on their target list, but these two clubs seem to be behind Brendan Rodgers’ side.

Celtic and others will face competition from Saudi Arabia as the report states Al-Ahli have made an €10m offer. If the goalkeeper were to join them, he will meet his compatriot and friend, Merih Demiral.

Çakır’s deal lasts until 2027 and Trabzonspor president Ertuğrul Doğan has promised to sanction his sale if there’s a convincing offer.

Günebakış state the player wants to leave Turkey and Trabzonspor will have to make a final decision after this season. With Celtic and Al-Ahli both making offers and other clubs showing interest, Çakır has to decide his next club.

Celtic stopper Joe Hart will retire after this season there’ll be a need to bring in a replacement for him. Whether that’ll be Çakır or another player remains to be seen.
