Last weekend, Leicester City won the Championship and secured direct promotion back to the Premier League in the process.

Estadio Deportivo state the Foxes’ return to the top flight complicates Sevilla’s plans to retain Boubakary Soumaré, who joined them on loan from Leicester last summer.

Sevilla have been keen on keeping the midfielder beyond this season, but that has become practically impossible after Leicester’s return to the Premier League.

They were hoping for Enzo Maresca’s side to continue in the Championship, in order to negotiate a deal to buy the 25-year-old for a price that suits their budget. That won’t be the case and the fee needed to sign him now is likely to be high for the La Liga side.

Leicester, for their part, maintain a firm stance and could even consider including him in their squad next season. It’s claimed The Frenchman would view this option favourably.

In short, Soumaré will be ‘saying goodbye’ to the Andalusian club and will return to the King Power Stadium at the end of this season.

Soumaré’s contract at Leicester lasts until 2026 and Estadio Deportivo state the Foxes won’t let him leave in the next window and Maresca wants to start a project in the Premier League next season.
