AZ Alkmaar are still looking into a possible deal for Tottenham’s Troy Parrott as they gear up to replace Vangelis Pavlidis this summer.
That’s according to Algemeen Dagblad, relayed by FC Update, who say AZ are investigating ‘possibilities’ to take Parrott to North Holland.
The newspaper reports that AZ will almost certainly lose Pavlidis this summer thanks to his 27 goals in the Eredivisie.
That’s not gone unnoticed, and the club are expecting him to make the move to a bigger league and club in the coming months.
They’ve accepted that and are already looking at possible replacements for their star man and Tottenham’s Troy Parrot is on the radar.
All indications are that he will be returning to Tottenham at the end of the season as he still has a contract with them until 2025, but AZ want to see if a deal can be done.
The big issue is that contract, which has the Dutch club thinking they will need to ‘transfer millions’ to Tottenham to get Parrott on a permanent basis. The indication is that they would be unable to do that.
They’d also potentially have to talk the striker into the move as he wouldn’t be guaranteed a starting place in the team, even if Pavlidis departs as expected.
He is an option being looked at, though, and could be making a return to the Eredivisie this summer once his loan deal with Excelsior comes to an end.
Tottenham also need to make a decision on whether they see any long term future for Parrott at Spurs. If not, then this summer looks time for a permanent exit.
