A couple of months ago, the Portuguese media reported Wolverhampton Wanderers’ attempt to sign Rodrigo Gomes from Braga.
Back then, it was claimed that Wolves have put around €15m on the table for the winger, and that wasn’t expected to be enough for an agreement.
While we wait to see if the Molineux side will succeed in the operation to sign him, Portuguese newspaper O Jogo today shares a new story about him, with some good news for the English side.
It now sounds like that first attempt wasn’t an official bid, because O Jogo says Braga would be fine selling him for between €12m and €15m.
The story highlights the good season Gomes is currently having on loan at Estoril, and even held an interview with João Pereira, one of his former coaches, to speak about him a little.
“He’s an exceptional and humble kid who I keep in touch with. I highlight his speed, irreverence, ability to work and verticality (gets up and down). He’s got a lot of pace, the ability to go one-on-one, carry play and constantly move deep, both out wide and inside out. Many clubs are looking for these qualities.”
It now seems that Wolves have more than enough money to sign the 20-year-old, and they just need to make their offer official.
