It seems the injury to Everton fullback Vitaliy Mykolenko may be more serious than initially expected.
A fresh story on the 24-year-old’s situation comes from Ukranian outlet Sport, who say that the player may actually miss Euro 2024.
Journalist Viktor Vatsko claims that after MRI results, Everton doctors decided Mykolenko should probably have surgery to fix his torn ankle ligament. That means he’d be out of the international tournament, which is obviously not what he wanted to hear.
According to Vatsko, there’s a new meeting with doctors in London scheduled for Tuesday, and that will be decisive to know whether he’ll be fit for the Euros or not. It’s not clear if that’s Everton’s medical staff they’re talking about, or a meeting of Mykolenko’s entourage.
Mykolenko is mentioned by Sport as Ukraine’s most important player, so there’s some huge expectations for his participation in the tournament.
