The past few days have been quite busy for Sporting manager Ruben Amorim, who was first heavily linked to Liverpool, and then had a trip to London to speak to West Ham United.

Amid the rumours about his transfer, the manager is also focused on his end of season with Sporting, where he can still win the league and cup double.

On CNN, journalist Bruno Andrade brings some very interesting updates on Amorim’s situation, with the outcome of those recent approaches from Liverpool and West Ham.

According to the pundit, and this is his view alone at this stage, when the coach holds a press conference on Saturday ahead of the very important match against Porto, he’ll speak to the local media about his trip to London.

Andrade claims people close to Amorim say the manager will ‘admit he made a mistake’ by going to England, as it wasn’t the best timing.

It’s also said that the coach will acknowledge the trip was related to his future, not confirming whether Sporting authorised it, and is unlikely to mention West Ham, as he’s set to protect the Hammers’ name.

Another interesting part is that, according to Andrade, Amorim’s flight to England was a move to put pressure on Liverpool, who’d been taking their time about signing him.

The journalist claims the trip went bad once the Reds, watching his move, leaked to the English media that Amorim was not the number one name for Jürgen Klopp’s position.

Andrade’s slant is that Amorim and his agent thought it could be a good tactic, but it ended up backfiring. It’s worth pointing out again that this is just one voice in the Portuguese media, however, the trip to London was strongly covered… with there even being photographers at the airport.

Alternatively, there were claims in England before that suggesting Liverpool weren’t convinced, and claims in Portugal suggesting Amorim wasn’t, so the above stance could surely be argued for or against.
