There is good news to share about Sasa Kalajdzic!

That’s not something we’re able to say very often, with the Wolves player absolutely hammered by injuries in recent years. There are not many who have to put up with the setbacks Kalajdzic has been experiencing in football recently, and there’s now some light at the end of the tunnel.

Having decided to go through part of his rehabilitation in Salzburg, partly because he just wanted to get away from seeing other footballers go to games and being able to play, the forward is now set to return to the Premier League club.

Speaking to Salzburger Nachrichten, he was open about his situation and choices, and what the plans are from here on in.

Unfortunately despite being able to return to some sort of training, Euro 2024 with Austria is out of the question for the Wolves player.

Explaining why he’s been in Salzburg, Kalajdzic said: “The new injury was a big blow and actually came out of nowhere. I just wanted to get away from everything. Through our team doctor in Frankfurt I was given the opportunity to complete the first phase of rehabilitation in Salzburg. This means I’m not too far away from home, but still in a professional environment where I can switch off and work well.

“After being away from everything in Salzburg, I didn’t suffer so much. It helped that I was able to enjoy time with my wife and our newborn son.”

On his current situation, the player said: “After six weeks in Salzburg, I’m going back to Wolverhampton. Unfortunately, I won’t be able to get fit before the end of my loan contract in the summer. That’s why I want to complete further rehab in England and attack again in Wolverhampton. I received very good support from all sides, which helped me a lot in the first few weeks.”

With regards to when he’ll be able to play competitively again, he said: “As quickly as possible. But of course only when I’m completely fit again. Giving a date doesn’t help. Unfortunately, I definitely won’t make it to the European Championships.”

Maybe the start of next season can see a return for Sasa Kalajdzic at Wolves.
