Last week, Gazzetta dello Sport reported Aston Villa have to wait until Inter Milan win the title for them to know their chances of securing Denzel Dumfries’s services in the summer.
The right-back’s deal lasts until 2025 and it was stated the Serie A side will look to sell him in the summer if there’s no renewal.
This is echoed by FcInterNews, who say the Premier League is an alternative for the 27-year-old, where Aston Villa are in the picture to sign him.
There’s no agreement in place as of now and if the situation doesn’t change in the coming weeks, Inter will be ‘awaiting concrete offers’ for Dumfries in the next window. They believe offers will arrive from clubs in England, and among these Aston Villa are said to be ‘likely to invest’ in a new right-back.
The Villans’ officials have watched a few Serie A players live in action and that includes Andrea Cambiaso and Giovanni Di Lorenzo. Juventus don’t want to sell the former while Napoli are demanding €40m for Di Lorenzo, although that could go lower.
Therefore, Aston Villa could focus on the Netherlands international as he suits both their technical and financial ‘needs’. With the duration left on his contract, it’s claimed Inter are unlikely to get more than €25m.
