Newcastle United have received encouragement in their pursuit of Real Sociedad star Robin Le Normand, and that comes from Thursday’s Mundo Deportivo.
The Magpies are interested in the 27-year-old and have joined Atlético Madrid and Napoli in the transfer chase.
Le Normand has a €60m release clause in his contract that lasts until 2026 and this would be a ‘deterrent’ for Diego Simeone’s side. They would offer €20m plus Javi Galán in return for the defender.
The centre-back joined the San Sebastian club on a free transfer in 2018 and has been a regular for them since then.
La Real and the centre-back are well aware that he will receive interest in the summer. Taking his contribution to the club and ‘exquisite performance’ into account, Real Sociedad want to reward him, by considering offers that’s less than his €60m clause.
This would certainly please Newcastle, who are one of the interested parties. Earlier this month, we covered claims from Spain that Eddie Howe’s side are willing to offer €30m for Le Normand. It’s not clear whether that would now be enough to sign him.
Meanwhile, today’s Gazzetta dello Sport states Newcastle are also interested in Atlético’s Mario Hermoso, who has a deal expiring in June.
