On March 25th, Sport Mediaset reported Aston Villa have proposed a four-year deal to Atlético Madrid’s Mario Hermoso. It was also stated both Juventus and Inter Milan have to ‘beware’ of the Villans.
Three days later, Calciomercato explained that Aston Villa are in advanced talks with the 28-year-old’s agent, and his signing is a specific request of Unai Emery.
Hermoso’s contract with the La Liga side lasts until the end of this season and Aston Villa are thought to have made an offer to secure his services for free in the summer.
The centre-back’s agent, Inaki Espizua, spoke to CalcioNapoli24’s CN24 and said his client is “far away” from signing a new deal with Diego Simeone’s side. This would please Aston Villa and other clubs interested in acquiring his signature.
“Mario wants to play in an important league and doesn’t want to discard any option. He wants to play for important trophies and important goals, he is going to evaluate any project that may come up for the next few years. That is the player’s aspiration,” he said.
At the same time, the representative has talked about the possibility of the Aston Villa target moving to Serie A, where Napoli and Inter Milan could be options for him.
“Serie A can definitely be a possibility for Mario in view of the coming years. Napoli is part of the Serie A teams, of those that have attractive scenarios for players. Napoli is a great club, they won the Scudetto last year and have an important history,” Espizua explained.
“Out of respect for all the clubs in Italy I don’t want to talk about individual clubs; but Napoli is certainly in Serie A and the Italian league can be a prestigious destination for Hermoso.”
“Inter are also a great club… I know very well that at this time Napoli is beautiful, as is the whole of Italy.”
The agent chatting so much much about Italy is because he was talking to the country’s media, it’s not an indication that’s the priority destination.
