Olivier Giroud is “one of the strongest ever” and deserves more recognition for his continued excellent performances, according to former Arsenal teammate Sébastien Squillaci.
The Frenchman has been speaking to Tuttomercatoweb radio, relayed by Milan News, about the striker as he continues to impress at AC Milan.
Giroud is now 37-year-old but continues to be a regular for Milan and rightfully so, with 13 goals and eight assists in 28 games in Serie A so far and 15 goals and nine assists in 38 games in all competitions.
He is very much defying his age and continuing a career that has been full of goals at whatever club he’s played for.
His record at Milan currently stands at 47 goals and 20 assists in 123 games despite his advancing years and Squillaci, who played alongside him at Arsenal, believes he deserves more recognition.
“For me it’s not a surprise what he’s doing, I know him very well. We also played together at Arsenal. He’s doing great things, he’s inexhaustible,” he said.
“He has a lot of experience and is a true attacker. Inside the penalty area I consider him to be a one of the strongest centre forwards ever, not only in the Italian championship but in all of Europe and all over the world.
“He has a strong head and knows how to play a lot and well for the team too. Giroud is really strong.”
