Earlier on Monday, we covered claims from Portugal which stated Liverpool are set to meet Ruben Amorim’s agent on Tuesday to negotiate potential personal terms for him to take over at Anfield.
That agent, Raul Costa, is said to be keen that his client swaps Sporting for the Reds, a stance which wouldn’t come as a surprise.
Bruno Andrade, who works for Portugal’s Maisfutebol, now gives his take on the situation. He states first contacts have already been held between Liverpool and Amorim’s representatives. The Premier League club are said to now be ‘fully aware’ of what they need to do if they want to appoint him.
That’s not unusual, given Liverpool would probably like to have the details of a move more or less worked out before going in fully.
Amorim’s €20m release clause for clubs outside of Portugal is mentioned, and it’s hinted there’s the possibility of negotiations bringing that figure down.
Given Sporting paid half that figure to recruit him in the first place, with SC Braga getting €10m compensation, they’ll probably be reluctant to come down too much or at all.
This isn’t mentioned, but maybe be a package with a friendly thrown in or a Liverpool youngster sent on loan could be offered.
