Last summer, Southampton allowed Paul Onuachu to join Trabzonspor on a loan deal, and he has impressed for them this season, managing nine goals and three assists from 19 games.
Two months ago, Trabzonspor manager Abdullah Avcı said he wants to know the striker’s “wish” before making a decision on his future.
On March 13th, Fotospor stated Southampton want €12m for Onuachu while the Turkish club can’t go beyond €10m.
Fast forward to April and a report from today’s Sabah indicates Trabzonspor have come up with a new idea to retain the 29-year-old.
Their aim is to extend the Nigeria international’s loan deal for one more season. To do that, the Trabzonspor officials ‘will sit down’ with Southampton representatives in the ‘coming days’.
Onuachu’s contract with the Championship side lasts until 2026 and there’s no mention if the Saints are willing to let him leave on another loan deal.
If a deal for the former Genk man can’t be agreed, the report claims the Süper Lig side will look at other options in the market.
Meanwhile, Sabah also state Trabzonspor are working on signing striker Denis Draguş, who’s currently on loan at Gaziantep from Viitorul Constanța.
