Real Sociedad are ‘rubbing their hands’ at the prospect of Newcastle United being forced to sell Alexander Isak this summer, as they’ll get 10% of any sale.

That’s according to El Diario Vasco, who cover the player today and how La Real are keeping a close eye on a potential money-spinning deal for them.

They explain that a potential departure from St James’ Park for Isak could ‘further fatten the coffers’ for the Spanish club, who already made €70m selling him to Newcastle in the first place.

They’re monitoring developments in the North East, with reports in England stating that Newcastle need to sell big names this summer, so they don’t fall foul of PSR and FFP regulations.

Selling the Swedish striker appears to be the ‘most feasible option’ to reduce their debt and if he were to depart, it would open the doors for the txuri-urdin club to ‘receive a juicy amount’ thanks to the 10% sale clause they negotiated with Newcastle when selling in August 2022.

For instance, there has been talk of a €100m bid from Arsenal, meaning Real Sociedad would receive €10m to add to the €70m they already secured and make it ‘a round business’ according to Diario Vasco.

Now it should be pointed out Eddie Howe has insisted Isak absolutely will not be sold this summer, with him determined to put that idea to bed in recent press conferences.

If the financial situation is as has been reported, though, the reality could be different, and La Real are waiting in the wings to benefit from it.
