On March 12th, Calciomercato reported Nottingham Forest and Fulham have held in-depth contacts to sign Lewis Ferguson in the summer. The two clubs are joined by Aston Villa in the chase for the Bologna star.
The midfielder has managed six goals and registered five assists this season. His displays have attracted the attention of other clubs, including Aston Villa, as per TuttoMercatoWeb.
Juventus are closely watching the 24-year-old. They are keen on Teun Koopmeiners and Atalanta have slapped a high fee on him.
TMW state Bologna rejected offers from both Nottingham Forest and Fulham in January. Those were around €18-20m, and a deal worth €2.5m per year was also offered to the player.
The report adds Premier League clubs are still in the picture and this is when Aston Villa are mentioned.
Ferguson ‘has an agreement’ to leave Bologna, as long as there’s the right offer from a top team. With Juve keen, Unai Emery’s side have to find a way to get ahead of them in the transfer race.
Juve could offer Tommaso Barbieri or Nicolussi Caviglia to lower the price for Ferguson, who is viewed as a backup for Koopmeiners.
Aston Villa wouldn’t have an issue to meet the Serie A side’s request and that may help them beat Juve, as long as they are keen on signing the Scot.
