Aston Villa loanee Leander Dendoncker has a ‘sealed fate’, according to reports from the Italian media.
As outlet TuttoMercatoWeb writes about the players Napoli recently signed on loan deals, they sound pretty sure about the decision regarding keeping the 28-year-old on a permanent deal.
The outlet writes that even though Dendoncker was supposed to have more playing time in Italy than at Aston Villa, that never happened, as he’s ended up finding ‘even less space’ at the Serie A side since his January move.
That’s why there’s ‘nothing that even remotely suggests’ that Napoli will pay the agreed €9m buying option to keep him after the end of the season.
Dendoncker has made three appearances for the Italian club, with a total of 21 minutes on the pitch, and hasn’t left the bench since February.
The situation hadn’t been so bad at Aston Villa, where he’d made 15 appearances this season. And it’s Unai Emery’s side who shall now look for a solution for him in the summer.
His contract with the Premier League side only expires in 2026.
