Eddie Howe has Kieran Trippier, Tino Livramento and Emil Krafth as the three right-backs at Newcastle United and the former two are currently on the sidelines due to injuries.
The Magpies could decide to strengthen the position and also allow one of the trio to leave in the summer.
That’s according to InterLive.it, who state Newcastle have identified Inter Milan’s Denzel Dumfries as a target.
Operating as a right wing-back, the Netherlands international has been a regular for the Serie A side this season. His deal lasts until 2025 and is requesting €5.5m to sign a new contract. This is €1.5m more than what’s offered by Inter sporting director Piero Ausilio.
It’s said the Dutchman’s price tag is low since he no longer has top clubs as his admirers. Newcastle would be interested as they are eager to bring in a new right-back in the next window.
Newcastle could include Krafth as part of the operation, but InterLive.it state an exchange deal has been discarded by Inter as they are looking for a cash-only deal. The Magpies may be in line for a good deal, if Dumfries decides not to renew the contract.
