Manchester City star Erling Haaland is a ‘great dream’ for Barcelona in 2025, according to Mundo Deportivo.

Robert Lewandowski is now leading the La Liga side’s attack and will turn 37 years of age in August 2025. They will need a new striker for the 2025/26 season and their aim is to sign Haaland.

With Paris Saint-Germain’s Kylian Mbappé expected to join Real Madrid after this season, Barca believe the Manchester City player could be open to moving to the Camp Nou.

The Norway international has a clause of less than €200m which the Catalan club can’t afford in the summer, but it’s hoped they could be in position to spend that amount next year.

The Blaugrana are aware of the 23-year-old’s situation. His agent Rafaela Pimenta and her partner, Maxwell, already met Barca sporting director Deco last month, where they talked about Haaland.

Meanwhile, Pep Guardiola’s deal lasts until 2025. Mundo point that out and add this is one of the factors to go all out for the frontman next year. Another factor to be considered is the Premier League’s investigation of the English champions.

The newspaper states Barcelona are awaiting a possible sanction against Manchester City, so that it would help them sign Haaland.

Obviously the hope is that any sanction on City would be huge and leave their biggest stars, such as Haaland, heading for the exit door.

It’s worth noting this is similar to how the Catalan press said Barcelona were approaching the Amadou Onana situation, with the hope being that points deductions would see Everton relegated and needing to sell at a lower price than otherwise.

Online, Mundo add he had said yes to the Spanish giants before moving to the Etihad in 2022. The Norwegian had already met Xavi Hernández but Barca weren’t able to go ahead with the deal due to financial limitations.

Their aim now is to try and sign him in 2025, to replace Lewandowski. To do that, they may well need Manchester City to be rocked by sanctions.
