Last weekend, Manchester United knocked Liverpool out of the FA Cup in extra time and Reds forward Luis Díaz was on the pitch for 114 minutes at Old Trafford.
Colombia have two friendlies against Spain and Romania this month and Néstor Lorenzo has included the 27-year-old in his squad.
Four days ago, AS stated there are concerns that the Liverpool star could potentially miss the two matches, but this was played down when he was spotted in training.
Speaking to reporters, relayed by El Heraldo, Lorenzo has confirmed Díaz is fit to face Spain later today, and that the worries over his fitness were because he played until extra time against the Red Devils.
The South American has scored 11 goals and registered five assists this season and is one of the key players for Jürgen Klopp. Lorenzo has also revealed Liverpool have asked him to look after the former Porto man’s fitness.
“Luis is fine. We have measured the loads because he played the extra time, he is one of the players who plays the most. They ask me to look after him, we’re going to do that, but he’s going to be measured so that he’s fine,” he said.
After the international break, Liverpool will host Brighton & Hove Albion in the league on March 31st.
Klopp and the Reds will be hoping Diaz and other players on international duty can return without any injuries as they fight for the title and the Europa League in the coming weeks.
