If you’ve followed our coverage of Victor Kristiansen’s progress on loan from Leicester City at Bologna, you’ll know the Dane is enjoying himself under Thiago Motta.
So much so, in fact, that the Serie A side are seriously considering spending money to make the move permanent, but their issue is the pre-agreed fee of €15m.
Regardless of how well he has played, as Corriere dello Sport report, they will try and negotiate that down and try and get him for cheaper.
It’s pointed out that Leicester are almost guaranteed to be playing in the Premier League next season, but that won’t affect their stance on Kristiansen.
That’s because the player isn’t keen on working with Enzo Maresca, who tried to play him at centre-back in preseason, which didn’t go down well with the Dane and led to his transfer request.
He’s excelled at Bologna, improving over the course of the year, but those in charge of transfers at Bologna with ‘undoubtedly’ sit down with the Foxes and try to ‘revise that figure downwards’, referring to the option to buy.
The worry is that Leicester might not want to, but Giovanni Sartori, their technical director, will do ‘everything he can’ to get a deal over the line.
If he cannot, then they will be forced to look elsewhere.
Considering Leicester paid €14m for the defender to get him from Copenhagen and he has played well, it wouldn’t be in their best interest to sell him for less, but with the potential PSR mess looming, who knows what they might end up doing.
