With 46 games in the league and cup fixtures on top, the Championship calendar is one of the busiest in Europe, which is what Leicester City players are having to deal with.
Add to that international matches for those who are called up to represent their countries like Wout Faes, and there is a good chance of exhaustion.
This is something Sud Info were interested about when sitting down with the Leicester star, who appears to be a shoo-in for a spot in Domenico Tedesco’s squad for this summer’s Euros.
The worry is that he arrives at the tournament in Germany completely spent, which wouldn’t be ideal for the national team, and they were wondering if this is something the player fears.
Faes replied: “Knock on wood (laughs). For the moment, everything’s going well. Personally, I like playing matches every three days. I’ve already experienced that in France. At Leicester, I play almost every game. I’ve just been rested before or after international breaks. That shows that the manager has faith in me. I’m trying to give it back to him.”
Sud Info point out the Belgian has played the third most minutes at Leicester City this season behind Mads Hermansen and Harry Winks, hence their perhaps well-placed worries.
However, Faes seems completely happy with how things are going and is confident it won’t affect him going into the summer, where his national team will be aiming to go as far as possible in the tournament in hope of challenging for the trophy.
